Oh the places you can go
Individuals and families alike can experience cultural immersion and the voluntour of a lifetime in Africa, South and Central America, and even at two locations in the USA, with Xperitas, (formerly the Global Citizens Network).
Among the most recognizable international volunteer organizations, Habitat for Humanity offers volunteer trips to make a difference abroad through their Global Village cultural immersion program, as well as domestic programs where you team up with fellow RV Care-A-Vanners, traveling in a recreational vehicle together to make an impact in U.S. areas of need.
If you “want to push your personal boundaries while breaking down cultural barriers,” Seattle-based Give is an adventure travel volunteer organization focused on building critical infrastructure in impoverished areas. Some of their excursions enable you to earn certifications and college credit.
It only takes a few minutes to inspire a few hundred volunteers
One of the most fulfilling aspects of voluntourism, or volunteering in general, is your ability to inspire others to follow your lead. Share a picture. Share a laugh. Take the lead from Create the Good voluntourists Roberta Lang and Monica Bolin, and send us a virtual postcard of your experience. You just might find it posted on the Create The Good Facebook page.

Sun and fun with a volunteering twist
Zip-lining through a cloud forest. Yoga in a butterfly sanctuary. Local, freshly ground coffee strained through a burlap filter. What’s not to love about a weeklong vacation in Costa Rica?
Roberta Lang, 59, and Monica Bolin, 54, of Alberta, Canada found a vacation package that included a service project at a Cost Rican elementary school, and Create the Good blogger, Jane Hess Collins came along for the ride. Read about their zip-lining, life changing, inspirational adventure, and follow the 2016 VolunTour on the Create The Good Facebook page.
