Opportunity Details... Administrative Volunteer
Summary: This volunteer position will serve The Salvation Army National Capital Area Command by assisting with office and clerical duties as needed by the office of the Chief Operating Officer. Tasks will be administrative in nature and performed in a typical office environment.
Metro Accessible via: Foggy Bottom Metro Stop
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Tasks: Specific duties include but are not limited to:
* General administrative duties including answering the phone, maintaining files and overall office upkeep
* Meeting preparation and note taking
* General office communication, including email and phone correspondence
* Data entry
* Assistance with planning and preparing for meetings
* Other office tasks as directed by staff
Qualifications:
1. Complete application process (including references and background check)
2. Weekday availability
3. Availability to travel into Washington DC
4. Administrative experience
5. Experience working as part of a team in an office environment
6. Good communication skills
7. Good organizational skills
8. Computer skills related to word processing, email, internet, etc.
9. Interest and willingness in learning about a nonprofit office setting
Time Commitment: The volunteer is needed to assist with the above tasks for a minimum commitment of 20-25 hrs per week for 6 months. Hours and time commitment are flexible. This is a great opportunity for a retired person interesting in volunteering with a nationally known and well respected nonprofit.
Compensation: This is a volunteer position, however metro benefits are available.
