Opportunity Details... Become a Folger Shakespeare Library Docent

Folger docents provide high quality support for the Folger Shakespeare Library's many educational outreach programs, including working with elementary and secondary school groups. Docents play a vital role in giving building tours, assisting with visitor information services, and being a part of the Folger's annual student festivals and Shakespeare's Birthday Open House.

Benefits include discounted tickets to Folger Theatre performances, literary readings, concerts by the Folger Consort, and other public programs, as well as a discount in the Gift Shop. Docents are also invited to free lectures and scholarly events.

The next docent training session begins October 4th. A two-year commitment is required with a minimum of fifty service hours per year. Docents can work any day of the week that the Folger is open, although weekday help is particularly needed.
