Teach a Child to Dream. Become a FLOC Tutor.

Nearly 75% of DC students perform at or below basic levels in reading and math. At Malcolm X Elementary in Congress Heights, the numbers are even more staggering, over 90% are below basic levels in math. YOU can help change that! For Love of Children's one-on-one tutoring program helps students achieve grade-level competency in reading and math. In just 22 hours of tutoring, students improve an average of 1 year in reading and math skills while gaining confidence in their abilities.

FLOC(For Love of Children) is currently recruiting volunteer tutors for the 2010-2011 school year at several local elementary schools:

*Tuesdays from 3:15-6:00pm @ Ross Elementary (near Dupont metro)

*Wednesdays from 3:15-6:00pm @ Tubman Elementary (near Columbia Heights metro)

*Thursdays from 3:15-6:00pm @ Malcolm X Elementary (right by Congress Heights metro)

*Saturdays from 9:45am-12:15pm @ Randle Highlands Elementary (accessible by several bus routes and with a large parking lot)

We need your help! Each new volunteer allows us to impact the life of one more child.

*Training and ongoing professional support from staff provided.

*No experience necessary! Just a commitment to enhancing and supporting a child's education.
