Be a Driving Force in Your Community

Since 1979, AARP Driver Safety has helped to keep millions of drivers 50+ safe and confident while on the road with educational programs and resources including the AARP Smart Driver course, CarFit, We Need to Talk and the Driving Resource Center.

We are looking for volunteers to become a part of AARP Driver Safety, a program that trains unpaid volunteers to teach proven safety strategies to keep their neighbors safe on the road.

AARP Driver Safety has a number of offerings that can only be successful with the help of our wonderful volunteers. Instructors: Give back to your community with a commitment to teach at least three courses a year. Organize, promote and conduct AARP Smart Driver classroom courses at your local community center, library, hospital, senior center or other venues. In addition to English-speaking volunteers, we have a strong need for Spanish and Chinese-speaking Instructors.

Coordinators: Serve as state leaders managing volunteers and the growth of the AARP Driver Safety program in your state.

Data Managers: Input and maintain state’s electronic volunteer records within AARP’s volunteer database.

Marketing & Recruitment Specialists: Promote AARP Driver Safety within your state and local community. Participate in state-wide events. Recruit participants, volunteers and hosts.

Tech Advisors: Assist fellow volunteers in utilizing AARP Driver Safety online systems.

We Need to Talk Facilitators: Teach a free seminar designed to help families have conversations with their loved ones about when it’s time to cease driving.
